Soprano, Ruth Acheampong, was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Identifying as a crossover artist, Ruth has experience with and enjoys performing classical music and musical theatre.

Ruth’s life experiences and years of consuming, studying, and performing music have helped her develop a mature approach to her artistry. She values honest storytelling and therefore, approaches her work with sincerity, nuance, and an open heart.

In Summer 2026, Ruth will be playing the Head Handmaiden in Disney’s Frozen (Drayton Entertainment). Her recent and favourite credits include Alana Beck in Dear Evan Hansen (Drayton Entertainment), Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Young People’s Theatre, Toronto) and Miss Stacy in Anne of Green Gables (Tweed and Co.). This past holiday season, Ruth was a featured soloist and ensemble member in the music revue The 90s: It’s All Coming Back To Me Now (Mayfield Dinner Theatre).

Ruth’s opera credits include Jeannette in L’amant anonyme (Voicebox: Opera in Concert) and Irina in Lost in the Stars (Annapolis Opera)

In April 2023, Ruth earned a Graduate Diploma in Voice Performance from McGill Univeristy where she completed a Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera the year prior. At McGill, Ruth was a pupil in the studio of tenor, John Mac Master.

Ruth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Guelph where she studied with tenor, Glyn Evans.

When she is not singing, Ruth loves sitting by the lake, knitting, and watching bad movies.
